R D Sethna Loan Scholarship for Indian Students

Introduction of R D Sethna Loan Scholarship:
 
The R D Sethna Scholarship Fund grants only loan scholarships to students who are citizens of India, regardless of community, caste or creed.

Instructions for Applicants:
The R D Sethna Scholarship Fund grants  Loan Scholarship to enable students to undertake scientific, technical, industrial or commercial studies in India and overseas on the condition that they are repayable with interest in terms of the agreement and other documents required to be entered into and executed by applicants and their male guarantors.

How to Apply for R. D. Sethna Scholarship:

All Applications should be made on the prescribed Form, which can be obtained on request from the Trust office. No Forms will be sent to intending applicants by post, unless the request is accompanied by payment of Rs.50/- either by a Postal Order or by demand draft in favour of R D Sethna Scholarship Fund. Applicants must also send a self addressed Rs.10/- stamped envelope of size: 23 cm x 10 cm. Applicants must indicate whether the Form is required for studies in India or overseas. 

Time of Invitation of Scholarship Application:

Applications for loan scholarships are invited by the Trust from 1st April each year. The last date for receiving applications for overseas studies is 31 May and for local studies is 31st August each year. Only successful applicants will be informed of the grant, and no intimation will be given to unsuccessful applicants.

Eligibility for the Scholarships:

Only those applicants who have passed at least the Secondary School Certificate examination or other equivalent examination and who have secured not less than 50% of the total marks in the last examination given by them prior to the making of the applications are eligible to apply for a loan scholarship.
The person proposed as guarantor must be a male, and permanent resident in Mumbai having a monthly income of not less than Rs.10,000/- for applicants pursuing studies in India and Rs.15,000/- for applicants pursuing studies overseas.
Applicants must submit letters of recommendation from 2 recommenders who are permanent residents in Mumbai.

The application form must be legibly filled in and must be accompanied by the following documents.
  • Certified copies of the Mark sheets of marks secured by the applicant at each examination commencing with the Secondary School Certificate examination or other equivalent examination.
  • A copy of the letter of admission to the college, Institution or University at which the applicant intends to undertake studies. In the case of applicants who have secured admission to USA Universities or Institutions must enclose a copy of the Form I-20. For studies in India the applicant must produce the receipt of the admission fees paid to the College or Institution.
  • Salary certificate or copy of income-tax assessment order of the parents and the person proposed as guarantor.
  • Copies of testimonials/letters of recommendations given to the applicant.
  • A passport size photograph duly certified as the applicant’s photograph by a S.E.M. or Gazetted Officer or head of any recognized College or Institution in which the applicant has studied or is studying.
  • Students proposing studies in India must submit proof of the recognition granted to the College or the Institute by the Govt. of India.
All copies submitted with the application Form should be certified as true copies by a S.E.M. or Gazetted Officer or head of any recognized College or Institution in which the applicant is studying or has studied.
Loan scholarships, when granted, will be paid to the applicant in such installments as the trustees may think fit, having regard to the circumstances of each individual case.

Eligibility Criteria
  • Applicants should be an Indian and a permanent resident of India.

The Application Process
  • Only eligible candidates will be sent further information.
  • Final applications shall be reviewed and evaluated first by a regional panel comprising scholars and practitioners from academia, NGOs and other discipline.
  • Shortlisted candidates will then be invited for regional interviews across India in the metropolitan city closest to student's domicile.
  • Thereafter, a national Panel will make the final selection and results will be declared. The support granted shall be subject to the candidate being accepted by the host institution.
  • All applications must be submitted to only the FAEA office in New Delhi. The level and duration of award will be determined as part of the placement process.
  • All decisions of the regional and national panel will be final. Any effort to influence the decision will lead to disqualification.
  • FAEA staff and their family members may not serve on selection panels and are not eligible to apply for Scholarship Program. Members of selection committees, staff of the organizations managing the program in the various regions and their family members are also ineligible for financial aid under Pathways Program.

Chief Minister Relief Fund Educational Assistance Scholarship Nabanna West Bengal

Eligibility for Educational Assistance from Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and Chief Minister’s Discretionary Fund:

To receive Educational Assistance from Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and Chief Minister’s Discretionary Fund the applicant should fulfill the criteria:
• Applicants should be permanent resident of the State of West Bengal.
• Applicants who are studying in any institutions of the State after passing out the State Board /Council of Secondary Education or a State aided University in West Bengal.

Debesh Kamal Scholarship for Higher Studies for Indian students

Debesh-Kamal Scholarship for Higher Studies/Research Abroad from Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture:-

Debesh-Kamal Scholarships will be awarded by the Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Kolkata, to deserving candidates for the purpose of higher education/research abroad. The scholarship will be open to Indian nationals irrespective of caste, creed, or religious faith.

How to apply for the Scholarship:

i) Applications for the scholarships, as well as any subsequent correspondence, are to be addressed to the Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Gol Park, Kolkata 700 029, and the envelopes should carry the inscription ‘Debesh-Kamal Scholarship’.

ii) Candidates will have to submit, along with their applications,
Bank Draft for Rs. 100/- in favour of the Secretary, Ramkrishna Mission Institute of Culture, as the application fee which is not refundable.

Qualification and Age:
i) The candidates must have a uniformly good academic record with first class marks at the Honours of Post-graduate level, relaxable by the Selection Committee.

ii) They should not ordinarily be more than 30 years of age. Exceptions may be made for short-term post-graduate or post-doctoral researchers.

Area of study:
The preferred subjects of study/research are the humanities and the basic sciences, but candidates in other disciplines, such as social sciences and applied science and technology, will also be considered.

Other Conditions:
i) The candidates will have to submit evidence of their having been admitted to a course of study/research at a major university or comparable academic institution abroad.

ii) Research students/scholars will have to submit along with their applications an outline of their research project as may have been approved by the university/institution concerned

Value and Tenure of the Scholarship:

i) The value of a scholarship will be around Rs. 1.00 lakh for one year only. Since this amount will not be adequate for studies abroad, candidates will have to produce acceptable evidence of other resources or committed financial support.

ii) Debesh-Kamal Scholarship will be tenable for one year only.

Mode of Application:
i) All candidates must submit application in the prescribed form, with a passport size photograph, along with relevant papers as well as attested photocopies of certificates, marksheets, etc.
ii) Candidates short-listed from an evaluation of theier applications will have to appear before a Selection Committee at the Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Kolkata. They will have to bear their own
traveling expenses. But the candidates who will appear for the interview from distance beyond 100 km may be paid II class Rly. fare. The decision of the Selection Committee about the eligibility of a candidate and
his/her selection shall be final.

B D Bangur Endowment Education Scholarships Information

Loan Scholarships (B.D. Bangur Endowment Educational Scholarships) are offered to Indian students to undertake higher studies abroad for Master’s Degree or for Doctoral Courses.

Eligibility for the B.D. Bangur Endowment Educational Loan Scholarship:
Applicants for the Endowment's loan scholarships must meet the following eligibility criteria:

* They must be Indian Nationals under 35 years.
* They should be able to establish genuine financial need.
* If they are in the normal academic disciplines, they should be graduates with a consistent academic record of distinction from an Indian university of recognized standing. Those in the final year of a Degree course would also be eligible. However, selection will be conditional on good performance in the Final Degree examination. In exceptional cases, loan scholarships may be given for undergraduate studies if the course, deemed otherwise appropriate to the Endowment's objective, is not available in India.
* They should be able to communicate fluently in English.
* At the time of applying for the loan scholarship, they should have applied for admission to a University.

In addition, the following additional aspects will be considered:

* Whether candidates are able to describe thoughtful and coherent educational and career plans. Preference will be given to people who intend studying subjects of developmental relevance.
* Whether candidates have a record of extra-curricular interests and achievements.
* Whether candidates can demonstrate the potential to achieve their goals in a foreign academic environment.
How to apply for the B.D. Bangur Endowment Educational Scholarships:
* Advertisements are placed in the leading newspapers and relevant magazines inviting applications for a particular year. Request for application forms should be sent to the office of Endowment at Kolkata along with
** Bio-data outlining academic background including subjects offered and Class obtained in each final examination.
** Evidence of admission (if available).
** Proof of date of birth (copy).
** Details of available financial support.
** Score sheets of the Qualifying Examinations like GRE, GMAT, TOEFL, etc. (copy)

The decision of the Trustees would be based on the recommendations made by the Selection Committee. These recommendations are made on the basis of merit but character, aptitude and ambition of each candidate would also be the guiding factors. However, the decision of the Trustees shall be final in every respect and no further correspondence shall be entertained.

Loan scholarship amount:
The maximum amount of loan scholarship will be Rs.1,00,000/-. The sum provided would be sufficient to enable a candidate to meet initial travel and term expenses. Thereafter the candidate will be expected to raise funds from other sources, such as University Scholarship, Fellowship, teaching assistanceship or campus jobs.

BREAD Society identified students with govt. high school education background as belonging to marginalized sections of the society. It awarded scholarships to about 3400 brilliant students from govt. schools in composite Andhra Pradesh to pursue higher education in govt. institutions in any branch of education. It also gave scholarships for further higher courses of study to enable them to attain their maximum potential.

Eligibility Criteria for Bread Scholarship for D.Ed. Course:

ESSENTIAL:
1. Education up to SSC should be in a government or fully government aided high school.
2. Present education should also be in government college (DIET).
3. Students should pass qualifying examinations of Intermediate & DEECET in the same year.
4. Students should not be eligible for any govt. assistance.

Post-Graduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child

Post-Graduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child for PG Programs:-

INTRODUCTION:

In order to achieve and promote girls education, UGC has introduced a Post Graduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child with an aim to compensate direct costs of girl education to all levels especially for such girls who happen to be the only girl child in their family.

OBJECTIVE:
The objectives of the proposed scheme are :

a) To support post graduate education of single girl child in non-professional courses only.

b) To recognize the value of observance of small family norm.

ELIGIBILITY:

i) Girl students without having any brother or the girl student who are twin daughters/ fraternal daughter may also apply for scholarship under the aforesaid scheme. In a family if one son and one daughter is available then girl child will not be considered for scholarship under the scheme.
ii) Girl students up to the age of 30 years at the time of admission in PG courses are eligible.
iii)The scheme is applicable to such single girl child who has taken admission in regular, fulltime first year Masters Degree course in any designated university or a post graduate college. This scholarship is available to PG-I year student only.
iv) Admission to PG Course in Distance education mode is not covered under the scheme.

Amount of Fellowship: @Rs.3100/-per month
Rs.3.100/- p.m for a period of two years only (10 months in the year) i.e. full duration of a PG course.
No other additional grant will be payable in lieu of hostel charges and medical charges etc.

PROCEDURE FOR APPLYING:

The candidates fulfilling the eligibility conditions are required to apply online through www.ugc.ac.in/sgc against the advertisement to be published by the UGC once in a year through advertisement in leading newspaper and Employment News after obtaining admission in first year Post Graduate course in recognized University/Institute/College.

CBSE Merit Scholarship Scheme for Single Girl Child

CBSE Merit Scholarship Scheme for Single Girl Child of Class X:-

The CBSE merit scholarship scheme is to provide scholarships to the meritorious Single Girl Students, who are the only child of their parents; and have passed the CBSE Class X Examination with 60% / 6.2 CGPA or more marks/ grades and are continuing their further school education of Class XI and XII. The scheme is aimed to recognize the efforts of the parents in promoting education among girls and to provide encouragement to meritorious students.

Eligibility Criteria:
The applicant should fulfill all the criteria given below for consideration and award of scholarship:-
i) Should be an Indian national.
ii) Should be the girl child and only child of her parents.
iii) Should be a student of CBSE in Class X (i.e. passed class X from a CBSE affiliated school) and having 6.2 or more CGPA in Class X Examinations 2016 conducted by the Board and pursuing Class XI & XII from CBSE affiliated
Schools (As per statement of subject-wise performance issued by the Board)
iv) The tuition fees for Class X should not be more than 1,500/-per month during the Academic year. In the next 02 years the total enhancement of tuition fee shall not be more than 10% of the tuition fee.

Value of scholarship: 500/-per month
Duration: 02 years only (for Class XI & XII)

Rate of Scholarships and mode of payment:
The rate of scholarship shall be Rupees Five Hundred (Rs. 500/-) per month.
A Scholarship awarded under the scheme shall be paid for a maximum period of two years. Payment will be made through demand drafts/ECS
